This is one of several activities I am involved in before preparations for fieldwork in Thailand and Indonesia in 2014. Engaging Publics: Shifts in socially engaged art practice considers questions about art’s engagements with publics specifically in projects variously labelled participatory, activist, socially-engaged, community-based, among others. The project is research arm for Tutok Freedom of Expression under Karen Ocampo Flores’s direction. We began discussions over a year ago and shared discontents about protracted and still-born discussions over art-world issues. We felt more miles can be covered and social networks’ limiting thumbs-up or -down can be expanded to discursive dialogue.
Join us and invited artists this 10th July, Wednesday at 1PM.
