Initially evaded this chance yet faltered – perhaps my ideas can be windows to the present state of curation (both institutional and independent) in Manila. My thanks to Tony Godfrey for the opportunity to be heard.
One thing this made me realize is my preference for field research, as “critic on the ground”, something that for me offers a panoramic view of art practice beyond market and institutional frames. Project for the year includes documentation and analysis of public art initiatives and projects in Metro Manila and nearby regions. One is funded by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research Development, University of the Philippines-Diliman while others are self-initiated and hopefully will grow into something more encompassing by 2012.
